Sitting in the Water
There was a season where I had to sit.
Not because I wanted to…
but because life left me there.
I remember feeling bland.
Like I was nothing special… just a regular cup of water.
Something people pass by without noticing.
Something easily replaced. Easily forgotten.
And then came the grief.
The kind that doesn’t knock politely.
The kind that floods.
I lost two people I held deeply in my heart…
and before I knew it, I wasn’t just holding my pain—
I was sitting in it.
A puddle formed around me.
Not from rain… but from my own tears.
And I stayed there.
Convincing myself I had nobody left.
Nobody on my side anymore.
No one in my corner.
Just me… and the water.
But something shifted in that stillness.
Not loudly.
Not all at once.
It was quiet.
It was Him.
He reached into that place… not to pull me out immediately,
but to show me something I had never understood before.
Water isn’t just something you drown in.
Water cleanses.
And more than that…
He is the One who can take water and turn it into something exquisite.
In that moment, I realized something that changed everything:
I was never “just water.”
I was in the process of becoming wine.
And if you really think about how good wine is made…
it’s not rushed.
It’s not exposed to everything and everyone.
The best wine?
It’s hidden.
Kept in controlled environments.
Carefully monitored.
Protected.
It’s not thrown on a shelf with everything else.
It’s set apart.
Fermented over time…
transformed in silence.
And when it’s finally ready?
It doesn’t sit next to the ordinary.
It’s placed on display.
Handled with care.
Valued differently.
Not accessible to just anyone…
but to those who understand the process it took to become what it is.
That’s when it hit me.
I was never being punished.
I was never forgotten.
I was never “too much” or “not enough.”
I was being prepared.
All those years of feeling alone…
of feeling hidden…
of wondering why I didn’t seem to fit where everyone else did…
It wasn’t rejection.
It was refinement.
Good wine doesn’t belong just anywhere.
And neither do I.
So if you find yourself sitting in your own puddle right now…
if life has you in a place that feels quiet, heavy, and isolating…
Don’t rush to escape it.
There might be something sacred happening there.
You might not be breaking.
You might be becoming.
Because God still does it.
Water… into wine. 🍷
And He hasn’t forgotten how to do it with you.
